Reminiscent of quilts from our childhood, made with love by Grandma. If you want a quilt that looks traditional but not old fashioned, Lewis & Irene's ‘Grandma's Quilts’ fabric collection is for you! The panels and coordinating fabrics are a modern twist on traditional colours and designs have been drawn with quilting in mind.
The Grandma's Quilts strip roll consist of 30 strips of 100% cotton fabric, two of each print in the range. Each strip is 2.5" by 43" in size, and there are many jelly roll and strip piecing quilt patterns available that can help to create gorgeous quilts from just one pack.
Our most common question is 'What is a fat quarter?' The diagram below shows how all the various cuts of fabric are measured, but in short:
- A fat quarter is where half a metre is cut off the fabric bolt, then cut in half again parallel to the selvedge - finished size is approximately 20" x 21-22" (50cm x 55cm) including the selvedge
- A long quarter is simply quarter of a metre cut straight off the bolt - finished size is approximately 10" x 42-44" (25cm x 110cm) including the selvedge.
